We are delighted to announce that Gurdeep Baldwin was recently promoted to Director of Operations at the AoEA. We sat down with Gurdeep and asked about her new role at the AoEA, what it involves, and what she enjoys most.
How long have you worked at the AoEA?
“Since March 2020, just before lockdown, which felt like bad timing. In fact, it worked in our favour as I was able to move our core services online. So nearly three years now. How time flies!”
In your role as Director of Operations, what are you responsible for?
“My main responsibilities are managing the operations team, all legal, IT and financial company compliance, supporting business development, and maintaining positive and productive relationships with our clients and corporate partners.”
What is your favourite part about working at the AoEA?
“I really enjoy bringing people together. Our Connecting Educators Annual Summit last year was a real highlight for me as it was the biggest event we have held to date. We received such positive feedback – knowing that we’re doing meaningful work and that people really appreciate our services and benefits makes my day. Another enjoyable part of my role is managing my lively, energetic, all-female team in the office! All our strengths and weaknesses complement each other, and we have a great can-do culture in the office.”
What are you most excited about happening in the next 12 months?
“Our growth in the last couple of years has been unbelievable and I’m really excited to see where that takes us. We’ve recently updated all of our IT systems, so we’ve made some big investments that I think will allow us to secure that growth whilst continuing to expand. With every year that passes, our opportunities and reach grow. We now cover all four nations of the United Kingdom, and have begun working internationally with contacts in the USA, Australia, and India.”
Outside of your role, what do you like to get up to on a Saturday morning?
“Putting my feet up and relaxing, taking my big fur baby Bodhi (a lively two year old yellow Lab) for a walk, watching movies, and spending time with my friends and family”
