About the Presentation

Collaborative School Improvement in Wales

School improvement in Wales continues to evolve as we grow schools as learning organisations and a self-improving education system. The presentation will provide: – a brief overview of the national School Improvement Guidance updated in January 2026. – examples of how aspects of this guidance are already lived experience in one corner of Wales. – evidence of impact of collaborative working, including the wellbeing and collective efficacy of school leaders and staff.

About the Speaker

Siân returned to Wales as an improvement adviser in 2014, committed to supporting schools to realise the ambition of the Curriculum for Wales.  A diverse and evolving portfolio includes direct support of individual schools, collaboration with clusters of schools, facilitating networks such as Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment, designing and refining the LA Language Strategy and supporting SACRE/SACRVE.  Her current EdD research considers how we might better bridge the writing gap in progress between years 6 and 7, by collectively growing increasingly effective writers.
