Emma is an accredited regional school improvement adviser, working across 5 local authorities. She also develops and delivers professional learning as part of this role.
She has a specialism in implementing effective literacy provision, supporting schools across phases, and disciplines, as well as within alternate provision and special school settings.
Emma provides support for aspects such as leadership of literacy; teaching and learning; self-evaluation; school improvement; pre and post inspection support, cross-curricular approaches; and curriculum design.
She develops and delivers literacy professional learning aligned to research, national priorities, the Curriculum for Wales framework, and qualifications.
Formerly, Emma was a Whole-school Teaching and Learning and Quality Assurance Lead.
She holds a Masters in Education at Distinction level and is starting a PhD, exploring how cross-curricular and disciplinary approaches to literacy can raise attainment in Wales.
Emma is a published contributor to The Wales Journal of Education and a member of the Education Workforce Council’s Research and Engagement Group.
She holds a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature from Cardiff University, and is of intermediate Welsh language proficiency.
