About the Presentation

Designing Curriculum for Real School Contexts

James will focus on curriculum design as it works in real schools. He will explore how school educators can develop a deep understanding of their current curriculum and systems, build effective teams around shared purpose, and look outwards to research, policy, and practice beyond their own setting. He will also consider how to plan for meaningful, manageable change and how improvement tools can support ongoing refinement. He will offer a practical framework for strengthening curriculum design in ways that are sustainable and responsive to pupils’ needs. James is a Quality Improvement Officer with Scottish Borders Council. He has a Primary background as teacher senior leader and Headteacher. He serves as an Associate Assessor for His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education in Scotland. He is passionate about education and the potential it has to transform outcomes for children and young people by ensuring every student gets the best school experience possible.
