Sue Rivers

A former Deputy Headteacher of a comprehensive school in the Welsh Valleys with a real drive for improving the learning experiences of all pupils. Has experience in a wide range of leadership and management roles, developing innovative and creative systems and procedures to meet whole school strategies and initiatives. Former Research Associate for Welsh Government Pathfinder Project- Lead and Emerging Schools, Consultant External Mentor (Cardiff University) to Newly Qualified Teachers undertaking the Masters in Educational Practice, Estyn Peer Inspector and has experience in a range of examining and assessment roles with various Examination boards.

Is fluent in the Welsh language having been educated through the Welsh medium. Has experience in Chairing Governing Bodies of schools requiring support in improvement following Estyn inspections at both secondary and primary phases and working collaboratively with Challenge Advisors and the Local Authority to facilitate improvements.

Sue recently joined the AoEA as a Consultant and Assessor for Welsh medium applications assessing applications and facilitating professional dialogues through the medium of Welsh.
