We are recruiting!

What we are looking for:

The AoEA is recruiting board members to support our vision of raising the quality of education advice in all school settings throughout the UK and internationally.

We are looking for a number of dynamic individuals with a strong background in education. A professional networker and/or rising star looking to influence beyond boundaries and keep us up to date as the education landscape evolves. Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector would be desirable.

This part-time voluntary post involves attending four board meetings a year online via Teams. Reasonable expenses will be paid for any travel or subsistence to support other meetings, conferences or events.

To achieve our goals, the AoEA is actively seeking a diverse board membership and, therefore, particularly welcomes applications from anyone meeting the criteria, regardless of gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or religion.

About the AoEA

The AoEA has been established to ensure quality and consistency in the advice given by senior leaders working in the education system in the UK and internationally. These senior leaders play a critical role and are increasingly deployed to provide specialist advice in school improvement, governance, change management, finance and people development. Significant numbers of education leaders now work for national, international, local government, individual schools, academies and colleges and other educational settings.

The need for quality and consistency of advice is an important concern. While government departments make their own judgements about the strengths and weaknesses of individual schools, it is essential that schools and colleges are confident their self-evaluation is sound and will withstand scrutiny by regulatory bodies. The diverse education systems across the UK and overseas comprise a wide range of education leaders with different titles, who work to a variety of guidelines and standards and adopt differing approaches to the various requirements and priorities of providers.

The AoEA has developed an accreditation process based on clearly defined competence criteria, which will allow people intending to provide advice to schools and colleges to demonstrate that they meet rigorous standards and a community to share great practice.
